Well, to be honest, I did not read all the articles but the titles seem generally non supportive of the Pope’s decision.
I guess if one can’t be correct, they can at least be loud and numerous.
I had hoped when BXVI was elected that he would break out a big broom and these reactions support the need for it.

Actually, Zambonies physically shave the rough layer off the top of the ice and melts some to smoth the surface. If you notice closely, the Zamobi will have a whole pile of ice in it after going around the ring.

Titles are designed to catch the eye and interest the reader.

Go back and read some of them; they are more supportive than you assume. In addition, some of the comments are made by individuals who appear to not have heard about the review prior to being askedquestions on their feelings about it. I would expect that people will have mixedfeelings; that does not mean that they would not support the Church, or would actively agitate against the decision. Someone may feel very strongly that this is not a wise decision and yet accept the Church’s decision.

This is the most we can hope for.
 
My hat’s off to them for having the guts to go face to face on the issue and not just whine.

Having said that, Orders who live in community may be the most impacted (as opposed to those who may not, if such there be), and may be the most in need of the decision; a diocesan priest often is living alone, with the potential to make chastity a bit easier to live out.
 
I am an individual with what I prefer to call a minor degree of same gender attraction. I support the ban on gay priests. I am a firm advocate against homosexual marriages and activity. But I am deeply concerned that noone is listening to those who, like myself, have not had sex but experience the disorder, if that’s what you want to call it. I am not a potential pedophile, polygamist, or anything else. Such blanket statements are reprehensible and totally lack the compassion of Christ. This is why I refuse to label or identify myself with either the conservatives or the liberals. This disorder is a cross. One cross is enough to carry. I do not need others.

I believe a blanket statement is necessary but I also believe the discernment process will continue to be conducted on an individual basis.

Pedophilia appears, from the scholarly work I have read about it as opposed to the daily press, to be different from ephibophila, which is the attraction to post pubescent children (and I use the word “children” to mean up to the age of 18).

There are a number of reasearch articles which indicate that there is a significntly high interest exhibitied by adult males with SSA in post pubescent young males.

That does not say that you have an attraction to them, but the statement that it is inordinately high is viable grounds for not having an adult male in close constant proximity to young men. That can include the priesthood, camp counselors, Boy Scout leaders, etc.

You are right, the issue is a cross. I don’t think that those in the Church involved in making this decision have any intent to kick you, or anyone else. However, I suspect that you will feel blows, whether intended or not.

I am a difficult case. I have only experienced the same gender attraction. My primary sexual desire is still heterosexual and I have only dated girls to this day. But I always felt they would never understand the turmoil inside.:confused:
