I love seeing big Catholic families and a zillion toddlers at Mass! The more the better!

This is one of the reasons why some people say they feel closer to God surrounded by nature and immersed in the “blessed silence” that often goes along with it if the natural area is large enough, as opposed to a loud and busy church.

Not everyone has the same threshold when it comes to sensory overload, either.

I agree, but I’m not sure it’s an all-or-nothing package. Solitude certainly has its place in our spiritual growth. So does community, i.e. what we find in church. Community, like solitude, comes with its joys and its flaws, the latter of which includes noisy children. 🙂

There are quite a handful of families at my church that have 6+ kids and they are known families by everyone in the parish community because of it haha. Funny enough, the couple that has 8 kids are the couple that teach NFP for the parish haha

We had a baptism recently. The priest asked the question of the parents “do you understand what you are asking of the church?” After the reply, he interjected “you should, you’ve done it 4 times already!”

I’ve never had a problem with children lingering and socializing in the sacred space after Mass, though, making it hard for others to quietly pray. It’s often people my age or older. The children are usually out of there right quick.
