Lourdes Water

Hello all, I have a question about where the best place to get lourdes water is. Yes I realize going there and getting it from the spring but as far as online. I have ordered water from lourdescenter.org but people have also recommended on different catholic sites that oblatesusa.org/ is a good place to order and lourdes-water.org/
If anyone knows any other sites do not refrain to post them but what one is legit, real, and authentic:shrug:. I like that all of them are .org as opposed to .com and I like that the first two only ask you to donate rather than pay but the first site says you can drink the water they send you whereas the second one says you cant. Before I ramble on any further I would just like to know where you get your lourdes water and any thoughts on the above sites or any other know sites.

Sacred objects cannot be bought or sold without losing their sanctity - the act is called “simony”, named after Simon the magician who offers to pay the disciples in exchange for the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:9-24).

I am not sure if it applies to Lourdes water but I think it will. Better just try to find a friend who is visiting Lourdes or your parish might have pilgrimages and you can request someone for the water.

(EDIT: As for donations, its a way some merchants found to “get around” simony. You cannot trick heaven if you know in your heart that it’s still a veiled purchase. Maybe if you regularly donate to your parish and then eventually they gave you the water–then that would be fine.)

I recommend only getting it yourself from Lourdes or from someone you know who brings it back. That is how I got mine, and it is the only way to ensure authenticity.

Ditto, I have heard of an outfit that sent out “Lourdes water” flasks from Lourdes NY!!!

If you can’t or won’t make the journey, find someone who is making it to bring back the water.

The sites you mention are legitimate. Not all who ask donations are guilty of simony. I highly recommend the first link lourdescenter.org/ since they were established by a cardinal and the bishop of Lourdes in the 1950’s as official distributers of Lourdes Water.
