Love must create?

I remember hearing or reading something a long time ago that I have completely forgotten except for the idea that love by necessity must create, which I find an intriguing idea.

On immediate reflection I can see how love in Human Marriage creates (in a secondary manner) new life. Love leads us to create better societies, to build each other up and God in love created the world. I think the idea might have been voiced by a medieval Christian writer? If someone can point me to any Christian writings on the subject?

What are your own thoughts on the subject?

Just a thought, but if you were searching for one greatest purpose for God to create the universe and life, would it be that God loves each and everyone of us as he loves himself?

Can there be any greater purpose to create life?
