She is a Mercy Sister? We have the same issues here.

It is the abandonment of Jesus in all this that concerns. Of His healing… and also as here many of those who turn to alternative ways are rebellious against the teachings of the Church. Which speaks for itself of course and is the real test.
Sisters of St. Francis in Baltimore.

I think I posted originally that the retreat is not about Reiki, but is being given by someone who I’m told (no first hand knowledge - I plan to find out for myself) is into Reiki. The DRE who spoke about her called her a breath of fresh air, and commented that sister has no problem saying she doesn’t agree w/ certain teachings and often expresses her own opinions when speaking.
Yikes.
The retreat includes no Mass (I asked) and the church hosting it, does not have a morning Mass on Saturday. I am going to propose to my boss that we do our own retreat so that we know exactly what kind of formation our catechists are receiving. And we can include Mass and confessions. 👍
I think that’s a really good idea - what would be wrong with your own priest leading the retreat for your own people? 🙂

I have my first level reiki, from a reiki master.
I think to lump all New Age mojo into one bag is wrong, it’s important to look at each modality separately.
I’ve been a Christian since my confirmation at age 13, and did much praying and consultation before deciding to study this.
I was healed from terrible night terrors, and a cancerous spot on my liver.
We ask God and the Holy Spirit to bring the healing power, and take no credit for any healings that take place. We also say the Lord’s prayer before working on someone, and call upon the Lord God of Abraham and Moses, and pray that no dark or demonic forces enter into what we do.
I can only speak for myself, and those that I know personally.
Dr. Usui who founded the Reiki practice was a Japanese Christian minister and missionary.
