Lucifer and Satan...same beings or different?

Can you tell me what the point of this thread is? I don’t care what we call him, he’s the Enemy, and that’s all that matters. What’s in a name, anyway? Whether we call him Lucifer, the Devil, Satan, Old Nick, or whatever is immaterial. A devil by any other name would still reek of evil.

We shouldn’t waste our time on the Devil. Let us concentrate on serving God.

This is a scriptural discussion and is just as important as why God mentions the Evil One at all. The Lord wants us to understand these things, its a little silly to say that its OK to go on in ignorance, why would you say that? Nevermind, dont answer it would be a waste of time, right?

No need to shout, now. There’s nothing wrong with studying the Scriptures. But, arguing over the name of the Enemy is not as important as avoiding the traps that he lays.

Fr. Gabriele Amorth, Rome’s leading exorcist, seems to equivocate Satan with Lucifer:

If it is the Devil himself, he says 'I am Satan, or Lucifer, or Beelzebub.

your remarks, augustinian, are correct, i’d say, in their meaning, but not the best in their presentation.

certainly it’s far more important to RESIST the devil than it is to NAME him.

however, this is a DISCUSSION board. this is supposed to be a HAPPY occasion…let’s not bicker and argue about … who’s called … what…
