Hi, I have aspurgers syndrome. I was wondering how come Jesus didn’t have any physical or mental problems at all? I have ADHD, ODD, aspburgers, psychosis, and many other problems. I’m kind of jealous that Jesus didn’t have nothing. How come god didn’t make Jesus w/ Aspburgers or something? If I had no mental problems - I’d probably be more fit for heaven than I am now.

While Jesus didn’t have any mental problems like aspurgers… he did suffer mentally, emotionally & physically before being put to death on the cross. Because of this, I am certain he can appreciate the difficulties you must go through on a daily basis.

Regarding how “fit” you are for heaven… be encouraged: It is not by your own merits that you will be accepted into heaven! It is 100% by the grace of God - just like it is for all of us. Jesus opened the door to heaven for all of mankind - those with problems such as yours and those with problems much worse.

You want to go to heaven? Great! Here’s what you do: Trust in Him and His great mercy. Love Him with all of your heart & love your neighbor as yourself. Try your best to do the right thing and confess when you fall short. The Sacraments will help you on your journey.

When God looks at you, He doesn’t see a person with aspergers, ADHD, ODD, or psychosis… He sees His child whom He loves so very much.

In and through Christ, God brings perfection to man. Therefore, it was appropriate that he be complete in every way. Yet, in becoming man, he condescended to share in our own sufferings, taking it all upon himself. As such, he makes us whole by becoming broken via the incarnation, his life, and his suffering and death on the cross, ultimately rising us up in transformative new life. Therefore, while he may not have personally sufferred your own particular difficulty, he most certainly took it upon himself and identifies with it in a way no other person can.

Didn’t St. Paul say something along the lines that we are crucified with Christ through our own sufferings? Christ’s crucifixion was perfect but in our daily sufferings we also complete the crucifixion? When I go through trials and long time sufferings, I try as best as possible to unite my “crosses” with Christ and that seems to make the “crosses” weigh a whole lot less.

Also, God has given you helpers on earth to make suffering a little easier, you just need to find out who those people are. My dd’s aunt suffers from bipolar II and a few other things, and well, when I was pregnant she reamed me out and didn’t talk to me the whole pregnancy and almost a year after. Now, she’s pregnant and off her bipolar medication and the only person she’s turning to through all her suffering is me b/c I’m the only one who understands the severity of bipolar and how it affects a person (especially during pregnancy). The rest of her family has their head in the sand and just believes she’s rude, not that she suffers from a terrible mood disorder.

Disorders of the mind are a heavy cross to bear. It must be one of the heaviest crosses! So many don’t understand you. Hardly anyone does. So there is not much empathy, which eases.

Sometimes my crosses seem uniquely and especially hard. When I start to feel sorry for my self (like we all do sometimes) I realize I am too absorbed in them. Thats when I think of how it could be worse! Often I think of “parents taking their kids to chemotherapy today”. That usually instantly quells that “poor me” when it creeps up.

An old Jewish parable says that if we all hung our toubles out on the line for all to see and could pick anyone’s, we’d all pick our own.

When you compare yourself to others, there are always those much better off (which can make you depressed) and much worse off (which can make you proud).

Comparing yourself to Jesus and thinking He was better off on earth than you are is a lie of Satan. That liar is wont to plant such ideas in your mind when you are down.

It is a lie because Jesus bore the heaviest cross. He truly bore the sins of the world on His Man’s body, while His all-knowing mind of God knew those sins, each and every one. And He loved the whole world to infathomable depths - and in that love He felt those sins to infatholmable depths.

To know is to love. Jesus has numbered every hair on your head and he knows all your thoughts and all your burdens you bear. He knows you best, He loves you best. He is your best friend. In a world of few friends, He is the true friend, closer than a brother.

Yes, those burdens you bear are heavier than so very many. But His grace is sufficient for you. He has for you all the grace you need, and comfort. He says, ask, and you will recieve. Are you not recieving? Ask and ask again, and be a hound of heaven. Is your faith too weak? Do you have as much as a tiny mustard seed? It is enough. Just ask, you will recieve.
