I agree. It’s very difficult to work out why Pope Benedict chose to waive off so easily the idea. I am just trying to understand properly myself. I don’t want to misunderstand what he is trying to say.To me, it is just confusing. We don’t know as in we don’t have an eyewitness account, but we do know inasmuch as, in my ignorance, I believe the Virgo Prudentissima would not have based her intention to preserve virginity on some feeble “ongoing commitment,” but on a permanent vow to the Almighty. Is this not what consecrated religious women have done through the centuries in imitation of and under the protection of Our Lady?
