Luke 17:7-10..Can you explain this?

I have been reading this over and over (and maybe I am a bit tired) or simply reading too much inot this…

Can someone please put this in lay person’s terms and explain this?

I think the point is that we should not feel puffed up, or become prideful, when we have done the will of God as we are supposed to.

It is said that pride is the temptation of the perfect. It is often the last fault to be overcome. When one has perfectly subdued their passions, and are united their will to God, they still face the temptation to pride… possibly then more than ever since they have made such progress in virtue.

Thus, our Lord is giving us a way to counter pride when we have reached this degree of sanctity: We should consider that we are simply doing what we are supposed to do.

What this parable is stating - Is talking about your faith, we as christians cannot make any claim on God’s graciousness in fulfilling the exacting demands of discipleship, they are only doing their duty. Just as if Gods asks us to do something, we may not understand why or may not agree with it but we do it as it was asked of us and believe because it is the right thing to do.
