I think it’s really simple. There were heretics who may have had problems with what Scriptures said. So, if the Fatherhood of God/Sonhood of Jesus in such an obvious way proved embarrassing to your heresy, just cut it out. Etc.

That’s just one plausible explanation.

The Manuscripts do not decide what is canonical as they are documents which have no opinion.

Scholars do not decide what is canonical either as they have no authority to take such decisions and their opinions are subject to revision.

Only the Church can decide what is canonical.

I think you mean Luke 23 verse 34.
And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.
Note that Jesus asks the Father to forgive them, stating that their error is due to ignorance. If it is due to invincible ignorance then it is not mortal sin, but it is still evil and consequences of it to deal with.

Some were culpable. Those that are culpable and that repent may be forgiven.

John 8
37 I know that you are the children of Abraham: but you seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. 38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do the things that you have seen with your father. … 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. …
John 9
40 And some of the Pharisees, who were with him, heard: and they said unto him: Are we also blind? 41 Jesus said to them: If you were blind, you should not have sin: but now you say: We see. Your sin remaineth.
