Luke 8:45 Jesus said "who touched me!!??

I have been in prayer groups where the spiritual “anointing” is tangible and transferable.
The anointing will stay with you for a time. This seems to be an example of what

Saint Paul said. Being filled (again)with the holy spirit. Ephesians 5 :18

What is your experience ?

I personally have had no experiences, but during my time in Protestant services, I have seen that the “anointing” is almost like a viral infection. Once someone touches you, you’ve got it as well.

This sounds almost like a Charismatic Renewal type thing. What exactly do you mean by “anointing” and “tangible”? It’s strangely reminiscent of Pentecostalism, and sounds un-Catholic to me.

As St. John of the Cross says, stay away from these spiritual cookies that you get from praying. Don’t base your faith and prayer life on your emotions, because eventually emotions will change or die down.

I have been in enough “slaying in the spirit” prayer sessions to become very concerned, troubled and afraid for those who submit themselves still to such prayer, expecting and wanting something dramatic to happen to them. Those experiences were over 40 years ago, and I fully expected them all to fade away by now. I’m sorry that they have not.

First, there is such a thing as an anointing by the real and true Holy Spirit:

1Jn 2:24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.
1Jn 2:25 And this is what he has promised us, eternal life.
1Jn 2:26 I write this to you about those who would deceive you;
1Jn 2:27 but the anointing which you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that any one should teach you; as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him.

Second, there are evil spirits as well as the Holy Spirit, active in this world:

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1Jn 4:2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
1Jn 4:3 and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.

And to apply the test that John gives, one must know the actual, real and true Jesus Christ - and not some fabrication, some counterfeit “jesus” that is false: a false “jesus” made up by false teachers and showmen, to gain a following for them, to enhance their own self-image. Evil spirits are happy to work wonders in support of such evil men! Anything for the cause, of deceiving human beings and disrupting the work of Christ’s true Gospel and the growth of HIs true Kingdom.

It is work to become a true disciple of the real and true Jesus Christ. I’ve seen too many who don’t want the “work” but do want the signs and wonders, and the “good feelings”. That is dangerous.
