There are many passages in Scripture that inform us of the sacred nature of life. Yet, as I consider the totality of Luke chapter one, I feel that it is the strongest argument against abortion. In that chapter we learn of a six-months pregant Elizabth, who was carrying John the Baptist. At the very presence of the unborn Jesus (within the womb of Mary), John the baptist leaped within Elizabth’s womb. How can any Christian deny the truth of that Scripture? Or how can they deny that John the Baptist (unborn) was able to recognize our Lord?

Do you agree?

What other passages do you see as being as powerful (or more so)?

The visitation of Mary to ELizabeth, I think is the perfect pro-life passage 😃

When John the Baptist leapt in his mother’s womb it was his spirit’s recognition of Jesus’ spirit as the son of God. As believers we too can sometimes feel our spirit leaping within us when we say or hear truths that are in line with God’s Word and will.

While I don’t believe Luke was alluding to an issue of abortion here. the quickening within Elizabeth’s womb certainly affirms the presence and preciousness of the life that she carried.
