That is not to be nearly as offensive as it may seem…at all.
Anyway, with all the arguing and correcting going on here, and what Luther alledgedly said or not, knowing (and perhaps I am being presumptuous using, “knowing”, and this is errant in before the question is posed), knowing Luther couldn’t resolve works needed for faith and knowing that Luther was a scrupulous man who would spend hours in the confessional but could NEVER reconcile that grace with the grace he taught (God forgives, regardless), did he EVER (and this is where the other’s come in: Calvin, Zwingli, HVIII, ect) teach/preach/write/profess God is Love? Ever? Did these men (and later, women) ever say to their followers, “God loves you”?
…And come to think of it, was this a big teaching in the Catholic …or Orthodox… Church(es) at the time?
