We know as Catholics that Martin Luther was a wise monk. We just didn’t think that he should start a religion through his hubris. I think Luther would have agreed with you. I believe Luther sat out to do just that, reform the Church. I dislike the split in Christendom and pray for its healing everyday but good came from it. The counter-Reformation was good and needed. Whether it could have come about without Luther is left to speculation and is neither here nor there.We just didn’t think that he should start a religion through his hubris. History tells us that he did try and damned near got burned at the stake for calling Rome out on its lucrative indulgence practices. What many people don’t know is that there were several others before Luther that attempted to do this as well and lost their lives in the most haneous ways.We know as Catholics that Martin Luther was a wise monk. We are going to have to disagree. Though I hate the split, I find the Counter-Reformation and the Council of Trent to be good things.No good came from it. Because of this I have been told that I, a devout Catholic, am not a Christian.
