From my morning paper:
“Installing an openly gay minister cost the Central City Lutheran Mission in San Bernardino its designation as a Lutheran church. But come Sunday such an appointment may no longer be taboo. At its biennial meeting in Orlando, the 5 million-member church will vote on a resolution to allow into the priesthood those ‘in life-long, committed and faithful same-sex relationships.’”
The article goes on to say that the resolution has to be passed by a two-thirds vote, then needs the permission of its bishop, the synod council, and the Conference of Bishops before taking effect.
It doesn’t sound very likely to occur, but I’m surprised the issue is coming up at all.
