Lutherans to elect an active homosexual as bishop

How are the Lutherans going to respond to this? Just wondering. You are in my prayers because any controversy, takes away from the mission of the church.

I’m not German, so this is news to me. However, in my church there are lesbian pastors who are “marrying” women and having children…

I strongly oppose it, but I cannot leave my church. I feel I must stay to at least try to tell people what the bible says. Even if many people say God accepts it, the Word of God says otherwise.

It is our duty to preach the truth, no matter how hard it is and no matter what happens.

Why can’t you leave your church? If it no longer teaches truth, holds to Tradition, and openly approves of an immoral lifestyle…

Because to leave it would not solve the problem, only closing my eyes for it. As a Christian, I am called to witness about the truth. The church is the chuch, even when she is wounded and hurt. It is then the truth is most needed.

I admire your courage, but I wonder if you might not teach a more effective lesson if you and others who hold fast on this issue where to leave?

The problem is, that this church is a so-called “statechurch” which 89% of the country’s population is a member of. To leave this church is to surrender almost an entire nation into the hands of the liberals who will lead them astray.
By staying, one can reach large amounts of the population with the truth.

Hum… Maybe you could do a Luther type movement and call the church on their bad decisions.

My guess is that a lot of others feel like you do, but I also worry that if it looks like everyone is okay with new program the church leaders will not see a need to repent.

Oh yes, there are many pastors who feel this way, and they have joined together in a group where they reject the bishops who support same-sex marriage.

Theres always hope, and it is important to advocate the traditional, Christian view even when it seems hopeless. I would encourage conservative, German Lutherans to stand fast and be witnesses of the truth.

That’s interesting…here in Atlanta, there was recently a Lutheran pastor at one of the churches here who was asked and eventually “forced” to step down from his position, due to him coming out of the closet, so to speak.

It is just one more sign that modern Lutheranism is rejecting Luther, The Lutheran Confessions, and the original stance stated in the of the Augsburg Confession that:
… in order that it might be understood that in doctrine and ceremonies nothing has been received on our part against Scripture or the Church Catholic. For it is manifest that we have taken most diligent care that no new and ungodly doctrine should creep into our churches.

Indeed, it is. The ELCA, and the European Lutheran state churches have been apostate from the faith. Not just the Lutheran tradition, mind you, but from the catholic Christian faith.

Hmmm, I wonder, If luther would have made this reasonably approach, if you and the other conservative luterans would not be in this predicament!

I’m LCMS, and somehow I don’t see either synod as the true keepers of the Confession, or the church catholic. With the current state of the LCMS, we’re not up to the challenge.

In what way do you not? Now, granted, individual congregations may be more or less faithful to our symbols. What area are you thinking of specifically?

Another “Lutheran type movement”. and delete more gospels from the bible. Not a good move!

Why not become Catholic, you are already in a Catholic site.

No, we Lutherans already deleted enough gospels. Who ever read the Gospel of St. Jim anyway?
