No, I didn’t mean to leave the impression that LCMS is involved with these specific problems. We have other problems, such as with the Eucharist, private confession, but mainly with infighting. As I said, I don’t think we’re up for the challenge.

True, but Luther didn’t intend to leave the church, he wanted to reform it. But in the end, he saw no other solution.

My original intention when I left the Mormon Church was to become a Lutheran. WELS and the LCMS took the Bible too literally in regards to creation and science for me to go that way. I attended ELCA and Episcopalian churches, but saw they were increasingly departing from their pro-life position and giving into the homosexual agenda. That’s when the Catholic Church became the only viable alternative for me. In a way I’m glad the liberals in the Lutheran and Episcopalian Churches forced me to look at Catholicism – it’s been a wonderful journey!

This is off topic, but my grandparents immigrated to the US from Ostfold. There are more immigrants to the US from Norway than any other country when it is calculated as a percentage of the home country’s population.
My father, who was a life-long Lutheran married my mother (of German-Catholic decent). The two of them went to mass together for years. My dad, however, is as stubborn as any Norwegian. He remained a Lutheran until a couple months ago. At age 84 he was confirmed as a Catholic and received his first Communion.
…A little Norwegian joke - My wife said my shoes looked shabby. She told me to go into town and pick up a pair of loafers. I came back with two Norwegians.

Yes, and WELS and LCMS range from unwilling to reluctant to participate in ecumenism. Part of witnessing is to sit down with our brothers and sisters in Christ, allowing the HS to guide us in overcoming our differences. Afterall, Chirst called for unity.
