How do Lutherans feel about Catholics today, do you feel closer to protestants or Catholics?
Why do you stay Lutherans?
Personally i’m somewhere between a Lutheran and a Catholic,but i’m closer to Catholicism
The Lutheran church is the only church in protestantism that i like

English Anglicans are very similar.

Anglicans and Lutherans are both Liturgical Protestants.

I cannot answer for Luntherans in Europe, as I am not there. I cannot speak for Lutherans, as I am not one. However, I was married to one and learned a good deal from the pastor of her church.

In America, it varies by synod. The ELCA seems the most accepting of Catholics, then the Missoury, and then the Wisconson. After that, it seems to be a pastor by pastor type of thing

To just say “Lutheran” is a pretty broad term anymore. From what I’ve seen Lutheranism can mean just about anything these days. You have the full spectrum from the more traditional Missouri and Wisconsin synods, all the way to really strange new age beliefs. In fact, there is a “Lutheran” (ELCA) church in California that claims our Creator is actually some kind of lesbian goddess or something. I’m serious, really. :whacky:

I am a cradle Catholic, but during my college years I looked into the Lutheran Church… I liked it for a while, but missed the sacraments and the traditions I was used to…

My parents were Anglican; however, I was raised in a very secular home and never attended any kind of church until about 12 years ago.

For me, much of coming to the Catholic Church was a question of authority and who Christ really gave the authority to continue in the apostolic offices he established. Reading the writings of the first and second century Christians has only reaffirmed what I knew to be true.

Lots of Catholic churches where I live in Birmingham, though I think it’s more than most places. The Sunday attendance at Mass in a Catholic Church is higher than attend Anglican services these days (partly due to Polish immigration), though there’s a lot more Anglican churches, I think they have less per church though, at least that’s the impression I get

Sure, but when BlestOne said “Leave it to the Protestants to make God into a Lesbian.” S/He was clearly laying blame for the phenomenon at our door. I’m just pointing out that it wasn’t our idea originally. It’s true that these people are no longer Catholic (though Ruether claims to still be), but it is also true that their ideas were forged in a specifically Catholic theological and academic setting.

I wasn’t offended by what you said. As a Catholic, I see it too. Too many kooks in the Church. We need a better system of rooting them out.

I dont think we have an Angllican church here
We do have a Lutheran church, but i still go to a Catholic church, it’s only 5 minutes from my home

I think it might just be California as it is a Liberal state. Their are Liberal theologians in Scandinavia too though.

There is nothinbg wrong with The Church being in The West but there are a lot of Christians that have let The West be in them.

Lutherans talke the eucharist but have a differant understanding of it.

It depends where the Anglican, Lutheran or Roman Catholic Church is. Lutherans in the UK are Conservative and most Anglicans are too. ECusa is Liberal but not all that are Anglicans in America are liberal. It’s hit and miss.

It sounds right. Because there are more anglican Churches in this sceptred isle Anglicans are diuispersed over a wider area due to more Churches while Roman Catholics atend less Churches and so RC Churches have larger congregations than Anglican ones.

An RC Church in Ipswich has a Mass in English followed by a Mass in Polish followed by a Mass in Philopino.

A Lutheran here.

I sometimes feel closer to Catholics and sometimes closer to Protestants.

For the most part, other Protestants, especially those of the more “evangelical” variety don;t really trust us because of our views on Baptism and the Lord’s Supper and of course, we have problems with their apparent desire to extricate themselves from history.
