I knew a guy who stole like 7$ of something from a large nearby grocery store. I thought it was bad, but when one of his friends asked if I was gonna snitch I said no. Later I was in the store again, and after 5 minutes of thinking about it I decided to tell an employee I overheard it and he said he didn’t really care. So I did kinda snitch, and before I did it I tried to think as to whether or not I had told my friend I wouldn’t, and whether it would be sinful or not. I decided even if I did, it would be better to tell the employee. I am unsure of how sinful what I did was or if it was the right choice.

It’s not lying if you legitimately change your mind. Maybe tell your friend you changed your mind if it seems fitting.

I wasn’t planning on it or I don’t think I was when I first told it to him, and I told him what I did, and he wasn’t happy but he got over it in a few hours.

Well, there you go.

Lying is not permissible, but from what I can tell this wasn’t a lie.
