When the boss or manager says it is part of your job to be a “closer” and deceive and lie.

How have you handeled this situation?

Because I have left 4 different companies.

I was told
  1. Gee isn’t everyone a lier and deceiver?
2.arnt you a whore like everyone e else
  1. Oh I didn’t know you were that kind
4 should we call you squeekly?

5 oh you are a whistle blower?

Yes customer service is a tough business

When I used to sell laptops at a large store I would then try and sell the extended warranty which we were supposed to do, when they asked me if I had it I would say no and they wouldn’t buy it either, I couldn’t lie to them especially as it was expensive and not worth the money.

Focus on the benefits of the product and let the people decide.
You’re not steering them away, but you’re not lying either.
Hopefully, you are selling quality products.
If not, change jobs. Life’s too short to be hypocrite.

Welcome to the fora, btw.

This is the third recent thread on the same topic…
OP, you might want to look up larrry and check out his post. Or the other thread there is a link to in larrry’s thread. forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=1056152

As a matter of fact, this exact sentence appears in the thread linked:
  1. Gee isn’t everyone a lier and deceiver?
The only difference is, you spelled a word wrong.

I’m in the Customer service business (Sales). If I were to lie and decieve my clients I would soon not have any. You need to find a company where you can ply our trade and get repeat business. You can;'t lie to that type of client.

If you are talking abuot telemarketing then you should leavet hat line of work as it is for liars and decievers.

So this is another troll post?
Thanks a lot dude.

Must be a slow day out there…

Indeed. Mr. OP, if you find this all so disturbing, then maybe it is time to get out of the retail/customer service racket and train to do something else, something that does not involve customers or service. There are lots of other well paying jobs out there where you do not have to interact with the public or sell a product.

then don’t be that kind of salesperson

customers want honest information about products they are buying. trust me,most of the time people know when you are trying to make something sound better than it actually is

What, again, is the reason this thread is put in this subsection of the forum?
