Lying to get a confession

Could it be moral to create a falsehood (lie, bluff), in order to get someone to confess to something they’ve done (a chronic problem they have), so that the person can be helped for their problem?

Clear as mud?

If they have a problem then the only thing you can do is confront them with the true evidence you have of their problem and the truth of how it directly affects you or others, or themselves. If it’s such a bad problem there’ll be plenty of truth to go on!

Yes, clear as mud. What falsehood would be necessary to get someone to own up to a chronic problem?
