Hello All –

Haven’t been on the forums for quite some time due to my health. While I’ve had serious chronic illness issues for over 12 years, we have finally fit all the pieces together with a positive test for Lyme Disease. Lyme is contracted through a tick bite, but can be in your system for years before you show signs and symptoms. Because I have developed chemical sensitivities over the years, I need to approach treatment slowly (I can’t go on the potent antibiotics right away). Unfortunately as the bacteria die off, they release their toxins into your system and you are temporarily worse for awhile. I am too weak now to endure this. So I am having IV therapy and taking herbs and vitamins right now through my naturopathic physician, but none of it is covered by insurance. We’ve had this issue for all 12 years, but the treatment now needs to be more frequent and specialized for Lyme.

We are already in debt so much, and can’t pay all our monthly bills. How on earth am I going to afford IVs once a week as opposed to once a month? I haven’t been able to work all this time, but also couldn’t qualify for disability. My husband has had many employment problems the last few years and while he has a steady job now, his income still isn’t enough to pay our monthly bills let alone the treatments.

I am so weary of this battle. I love Our Lord and I am trying to trust in Him, but it is very hard. Please pray for me and for my family. We have one daughter who is out on her own and our son is a senior this year. Hoping he can find a job after he graduates but unemployment is bad where I live, especially for the 16-24 yr old group.

We need a miracle! Thanks in advance for your prayers.
 
I am so sorry that you are having such difficulties. You are in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your troubles, and I will keep you in my prayers Didi.

For times of extreme hardship I have a very simple but powerful prayer from St. Julian that I will repeat to myself any time I feel doubts about my life or my faith:

“All shall be well,
and all shall be well,
and all manner of thing shall be well.”

I will pray this prayer for you, and remember that no matter the hardships that you face, that God is there for you and his love for you is everlasting. Put your troubles in his hands and know that he will take care of you!

Hi Didi,

In 2004, I too had Lyme’s Disease. It caused me moving skin rashes, incredible joint pain, extreme swelling, burning and itching of the hands, and finally made my tongue swell up and have difficulty breathing. I had been to the family doctor who had placed me on two antibiotics and steroids. It just got worse.

The difficulty breathing episode drove me to the emergency room, where the ER doctor and an infectious disease doctor figured it out. I was given 30 days worth of doxycycline, one pill a day. The symptoms started clearing up in several days. I had some residual fatigue for about 3 months, but the disease was long gone with no residual damage to me.

Please consider getting a second opinion for your treatment. Your doctor won’t be offended. If you can consult an infectious disease doctor, I would feel so much better for you.

Praying for you too! I have a friend who suffers from this. She had no symptoms for over five years then BAM really interfered with her life! I know she started a foundation for Lymes, if you like I will reach out to her and find her site for you

Lord stretch out your hand and heal Didi and let her be perfectly healed and whole . Lord bless this woman and give her total healing physically and emotionally and give her joy, happiness and laughter everyday. thanks to you Lord, in Jesus’s name, amen. / John B.

I know what it’s like to be chronically ill and to not have enough money for expensive treatments. I guess we all have to pray and try really hard not to give in to the despair and depression. I will pray for your family for healing and strength.

Yes, please. Any help and info I can get now is appreciated.
 
I start IV therapy and medications for the Lyme Disease this Friday. It will be a long and sometimes painful process. Your prayers are appreciated. Still not sure how this is all going to work out financially, but Jesus, I trust in You!

You have my profound sympathies and my prayers. God spared me from most of the awful chronic effects of the disease, but I remember how miserable my fight with Lyme was. May God heal you and Our Lady, Health of the Sick, keep you under her mantle. I will keep you in my prayers.
