Lyon shooting: Orthodox priest seriously wounded

Police in the French city of Lyon say an orthodox priest has been injured in a shooting. The gunman is reportedly on the loose.

An attacker armed with a sawn-off shotgun on Saturday wounded an Orthodox priest in a shooting in the French city of Lyon before fleeing, a police source said.

The priest, who has Greek nationality, was closing his church when the attack happened and is now in a serious condition, said the source, who asked not to be named.

A Greek Orthodox priest has been left with life-threatening injuries after being shot in the French city of Lyon.
The priest - identified by police as 45-year-old father-of-two Nikolas Kakavelakis - was fired at twice while he was closing a church at about 4pm.
Seriously injured, at this point, I hope he lives through this. Of course, I would hope and pray for his full recovery. Per further in the article, hit twice in the abdomen, so that’s not the head but this still sounds very serious.

Some reports don’t sound good at all, so there really is a reason to hope he survives.
