Yes indeed. Once the ‘word’ is out that the Church is even TALKING about this, it seems to give the Bishops free reign to implement things not officially approved by the Church. We haven’t seen that happen since Vat ll? Ummm…yes, with lots of things. Just a small for instance: No meat on Fridays was supposed to be followed up with some sort of personal sacrifice instead, if one so wished. They were interchangeable. We DID NOT hear that from our clergy. We heard…“No meat on Friday is no longer required EXCEPT during lent.” If Rome gives us a millimeter of an inch…we TAKE TEN MILES! I could go on with the abuses that were implemented that were not supposed to be, but I think we’d need another thread for it.Exactly! This possibility is what all the worry is about.
The reason I (and lots of us) worry about this. In trying to be more relevant to the culture, we seem to jump right in to the drowning waters with it! PRAY.
