Chess was originally inspired from war. So am I advocating war when I play chess?

There’s a fundamental difference. Comparing the two is a bit extreme. So it goes with fantasy stories.
What about the Bible verse about avoiding an appearance of evil?

Yes, it is to keep them apart from God. I’ve read some texts concerning the demonic and was amazed at the things demons supposedly taught man over the years. The only way man could have gotten this knowledge was through magic conjruing spells and divination.
Are you referring to the book of Enoch?

I can’t answer your first question.

As far as your second question, deception is the primary device of the enemy. He offers false belief systems or a different version of Christ or even claims a human being is Christ and is alive today. All of us have a potentially deadly inborn illness called Original Sin. That is why some people are attracted to anything but the good. But even in those cases, God has not abandoned them. But when a person believes he can do anything and be anything, including God, then there is a very great risk. Instead of being jealous, it appears people decide believing is wrong for various reasons. They hear another voice but it is not God.

Until our last breath, there is hope for all of us with God. The day of salvation can be today.

Matthew 13:24

New Living Translation
"The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’

English Standard Version
And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’

13:28

New International Version
"‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. "The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’

New Living Translation
"‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed. "‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked.

English Standard Version
He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’

13:29

Verse (Click for Chapter)
New International Version
"‘No,’ he answered, 'because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them.

New Living Translation
"‘No,’ he replied, 'you’ll uproot the wheat if you do.

English Standard Version
But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.

13:30

Verse (Click for Chapter)
New International Version
Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’"

New Living Translation
Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’"

Excellent! Thank you Ed.

Is the goal of that to keep people away from Heaven?

The fallen angela, from things I’ve read, hate when people get close to God. And a private revelation, called “Letter from hell” which is written, according to the story (the Church didn’t confirm its authenticity just that it didn’t contradict teaching) by one of the damned, has the woman mentioning that she hates seeing people go to Heaven. So yeah, anything done by the enemy would be an attempt to keep us from Heaven.

But also remember that even more so does God, and all those in Heaven, want us to join them. So we have help. Lord knows we need it.

I think real magic is something that has been lost to the ages for the most part, its just not compatible with the modern world, and maybe it was lost for good reason, anything is possible.

I remember reading about how in ancient times people would move extremely large boulders and objects using a flute, playing a specific tone, if we saw someone doing that today, Im pretty sure most people would call it real magic (but it really is not), its all about perception.

Same thing would be true if someone from the 1950s saw a modern day smartphone or computer, they would call it magic or sorcery… if we saw technology from 500 yrs in the future, we would definitely call it real magic too.

What about paranormal phenomena? Is that to get legal rights over a person’s life?

I am not sure about the answer to your question, but I would like to share with you a book I read by a woman, Moira Noonan, who was deceived into “new age” stuff and was brought out of it through our Blessed Mother.

Here is a site you can explore, if you want to. spiritbattleforsouls.org/

I had read her book “Ransomed from Darkness”, which is not written in a hysterical manner as other such books are. Very enlightening about “new age” deceptions.

I don’t understand the question. No paranormal phenomena can get legal rights - as we know them - over anyone. The duration of any particular phenomenon may vary but no rights are granted.

I’m talking about people who dabble in it, not simply living a house with it.

Without getting too detailed, people who dabble without knowing the possible consequences, can become possessed by a demon or demons. In some cases, the dabbler may desire something, or is being led astray by false promises of getting something or causing something to happen if he does XYZ, even if he knows some risk is involved. The latter person would also be at risk of possession.

Is the concept of legal rights bibical?

what’s the main goal of possession? To keep a person away from salvation?
