I believe this magazine follows the liturgical yearly cycles; A,B,C? The magazine is rather pricey so I may not renew this year. I have a few years worth and am wondering if they can be swapped out every 3 years, meaning can I use the ones from this year in 3 years from now? Will the gospel/epistle readings be the same? I’m having trouble contacting them.

I wasn’t sure which forum to put this in but as it has to do with the Mass, I put it here.

thanks for any help you can offer,

Sundays operate on a three-year cycle, but Weekday Masses have a 2 year cycle. That, and the fact that Lent does not come at the same point every year, would probably make it very difficult to just recycle the Magnificats.

I use Living With Christ, which I like. One of the benefits is that is is much less expensive than the Magnificat.

I would make the sacrifice and keep Magnificat. Something that Magnificat does that I have not seen in the others is that it has some of the parts of the Mass in Latin like the Gloria, the Creed and the Sanctus. This helps when I can’t lug my Daily Roman Missal around. I also like their abbreviated Morning and Evening Prayer and I use these during Holy Communion. The reflections are pretty good and there is usually one in there from Pope Benedict.

It also has a short order for Benediction which can be very helpful. It’s pricey, but, if I want something sound I would make the sacrifice to keep Magnificat.

Thanks for both answers. I need to give it more thought but you have given me lots to think about. I do love my Magnificat although I don’t always have time to read and reflect.

Sometimes, when I need to settle down before Mass, I will read a meditation from Magnificat (either for that day or for some day during the month). It helps. It’s also a good pacifier when the homily starts tanking or when the music is particularly bad.

LOL… or when the priest speaks so softly I can’t hear but I don’t just want to let my mind wander into daydreams.
