Today I received the first issue of my two year subscription to the monthly magazine MAGNIFICAT, the issue for September 2007. A quick glance through the pages seems to indicate that this is a great way for me to keep my mind on God all day, with short readings as time allows.
(Coffee breaks and lunch break at the Post Office, for example.)
I love my Magnificat. I purchased it with money I got at Christmas from my non-Catholic in-laws.
I carry mine in my purse, that way I always have something to read where ever I am. Its great in helping to keep you focused on God throughout the day.
I don’t get to make daily Mass so it’s a great way for me to get the readings of the day and then I go to my Navarre bible and see what the footnotes have to teach me. Love the Magnigicat!!
Lots of people in our parish use them, especially the ones of us who try to attend daily Mass because our missalette is a combo/hymnal too so we only have the readings for Sunday in there. Also, I love the meditation on the readings and the saint of the day section.
I think that it’s much easier to follow along during Mass than with the one we have at church…however, I received a copy of Celebrate or whatever the book is at RCIA and I believe that it is through December, so I won’t be purchasing another Magnificat until after December.
But I love it! The meditations each week are great. The write ups on Saints are great…it’s small, easier to carry around. Just a wealth of information!
