An online group devoted to the spread of Islam, Mahdi Unite Muslims, has figured out a way to convert America and the West in general: Promote the Shiite practice of mutah (temporary marriage).
Marriage in Islam is essentially conducted as an agreement between the two parties. Men may have multiple wives, and in some countries a man may divorce his wife simply by telling her three times, “I divorce you.” Many in Shiite Islam—the variety practiced in Iran, much of Iraq, and by Hezbollah terrorists—allow temporary marriages that exist only for a predetermined time period, which may be for less than a day. They require a dowry, or bride gift, from the man, and the following spoken formula: The woman says, “I marry myself to you for the specified dowry (mention the amount) and for the specified time period (mention the time period).” Then the man says: “I accept.”
I am interested to hear from Muslims if these practices of the Mahdi Unite Muslems are true.

Thanks in advance.

Luther and Calvin strongly condemned contraceptives, because they both were once Catholic.

Indeed, I wish everyone to be as I am [an unmarried)], but each has a particular gift from God, 5 one of one kind and one of another.
8
6 Now to the unmarried and to widows, I say: it is a good thing for them to remain as they are, as I do,
9
but if they cannot exercise self-control they should marry, for it is better to marry than to be on fire.
10
To the married, however, I give this instruction (not I, but the Lord): 7 a wife should not separate from her husband
11
–and if she does separate she must either remain single or become reconciled to her husband–and a husband should not divorce his wife.
12
To the rest 8 I say (not the Lord): if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she is willing to go on living with him, he should not divorce her;
13
and if any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he is willing to go on living with her, she should not divorce her husband.
14
For the unbelieving husband is made holy through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy through the brother. Otherwise your children would be unclean, whereas in fact they are holy.
15
If the unbeliever separates, 9 however, let him separate. The brother or sister is not bound in such cases; God has called you to peace.
16
For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband; or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
17
10 Only, everyone should live as the Lord has assigned, just as God called each one. I give this order in all the churches.
18
Was someone called after he had been circumcised? He should not try to undo his circumcision. Was an uncircumcised person called? He should not be circumcised.

Paul is wishing every Christian (male and female) to be like him - in unmarried status.

Guess what would happen if his wish is followed by ever true devotee (male and female) of Paul. There will be only clergymen and nuns all around but for some period and then after their deaths, there will be no more followers of Paul alive on the face of the earth.

What a wish of Paul, unless he had an another plan how to keep continue Christian generation.

Can you please just answer the question of the OP, happyday? I would also like to know if what is mentioned in the article is a real practice.

In Shiaism, I am not sure if it is still practiced. Only a Shia can answer your question. I cannot speak for them.

As far in Islam (and Islam as understood and practiced and preached by the majority of the Muslims in every generation sicne the begininng), temporary marriage is not allowed, once it was put to an end gradually during the transition from the Period of Ignorance to the Period of Islam.

I hate to hijack my own thread, but what in the world is that??

I’ve never heard of Mahdi Unite Muslims and I think you should find better sources of getting your news.

I ran across the article in World magazine and the reason I posted was to get objective opinions.
The best of you are those who are best to their wives. - Prophet Muhammad (saaws)
Hmmmm.

Wikipedia has an article on mutah.

It appears that Islam has a provision for a temporary marriage. However, the provision only applies if the marriage has not been consummated. At least that is my understanding from the article.
