Not being a mathamatician or a scientist, I may be missing something. Explain to me how something becomes truth because ***many scientists say it is, say, like we all agree the earth is flat, or studies of 100 studies prove ***that…

Neither being a scientist and wearing a lab coat necessarily makes someone more right than another, nor does the number of people agreeing make something right, just because most think a certain way.
I agree. Just because a group of people say something doesn’t make it correct. And remember…it’s a minority of scientists that say AGW is a fact. Some day they will have to accept their “inconvenient truth”.

kimmie - this post from the Holy Father is beautiful - and the issues are the primary reason my husband and I became vegan a few years ago - not because of the animals, although I can’t stand to think of animals suffering - but the issue of resources and environmental damage caused by the production of meat, poultry, and dairy - I truly believe that my faith calls me to make this change - and I would invite anyone who really says that they care about what they can do as global stewards in response to the needs of the poor around the world - to consider making this change -
Here’s the problem I have with AGCC radicalism that I need to reduce my carbon footprint. Meantime, Al Gore’s house uses 20 times more energy than the average American household. But that’s ok, because Al Gore’s house is bigger than the average American home, and anyway he buys energy from wind farms and methane and other “green” sources and that “neutralizes” his carbon footprint. (Not sure how the electric company determines who gets the “green” energy and who doesn’t.

snopes.com/politics/business/gorehome.asp

Al Gore INCREASED his energy use by 10% since his house went “green” while asking the rest of to decrease our energy use.

There aren’t enough limousines in Copenhagen for all the VIPs. Then there are all the private jets.

Anybody know how big the Copenhagen Conference’s carbon footprint is?

People who use 20 times more energy would make a bigger impact reducing so-called greenhouse gases by decreasing their energy usage by 1% than by asking ME to reduce my energy usage. I’m talking about all the heated pools, Escalades, etc. in Hollywood.

I already keep my thermostat at 66 in winter, and 60 at night and in the day when I’m not at home. I’m moving to smaller home, now that my kids are grown up and out of the house. I work less than 5 miles from home.

I washed my babies’ diapers and hung them on the line to dry. I’m talking about the old fashioned flat ones, the ones you still needed plastic pants. The designer stuff they have out now is ridiculously expensive. I never gave my kids a bottle of formula or precanned baby food. I nursed my babies and made their food. And yes, I made them MEAT!

Can you say the same for yourself, 4elise? Did you use paper diapers on your kids?

I grow vegetables on my tiny city lot, and I frequent the local farmer’s markets. I shop resales shops. I’ve been recycling for over 30 years, I have a compost heap.

Yet I am branded a “denier” who doesn’t care about the stewardship of our planet.🤷

What I am seeing is unless I change my ways the way YOU and the rest of the PC crowd want me to change them, it will never be good enough. You see, nobody makes much money on cloth diapers. There’s no profit in homemade babyfood. I see Gerber has put out organic babyfood now. Huggies makes an organic cotton disposable diaper now. lol

Oh qui est ce…you’re fighting a losing battle with her and St. They don’t care to be informed. They know it all. I’ve already suggested that a couple of them come teach my priest how to say Mass.

I’d really like to know if they gave their babies formula and used disposable diapers. That was a huge deal in the '70’s and '80’s Nobody ever talks about how many diapers are in the land fill anymore. I guess there are too many working moms and that makes it inconvenient.

I quit working when I had kids. I babysat for other people’s kids to make money. Don’t tell me I was lucky enough to afford it. We just didn’t buy stuff. Shopping was not a past time for me.

I wonder if these PRO AGW folks even know how their leaders abuse the environment. I guess that if a star from a soap opera says something when interviewed…it has got be gospel. They are the worse offenders.

Forget knucklehead Gore…read about some of the other pro AGW actors and actresses. I think that when a very famous one who is Jewish (Barbara Striedand) makes money selling Christmas music it shows the contempt for the people. Have some of the environmental wackos on this thread ever checked out her gargantuan footprint. Check out Gore’s. Oh…that’s right…for them it’s practice what I preach not what I do. That’s the case for all the big stars who are Gore faciasts. They want you to give up the little that you have to make life any resemblance of comfortable. But they sure won’t. I guess they don’t believe the junk they spout.

Yes, we the commoners, must cut back. Hollywood et al needs all that energy to make movies and live the lifestyle for which they are pre-destined.

I’d like to, but his face keeps appearing!
I only listen to sacred Christmas music. Well…I do have a Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin CD…

Sacred Christmas Music is the only Christmas Music. I absolutely love O Come O Come Emanuel by Manheim Steam Roller. It reminds me of old chant. Very beautiful and it’s from a believer.

And Andy Williams! 🙂

I won’t even bother with such silliness. Obviously you are not a scientist…nor well versed in scientific procedure.
So I’m confused, and I ask your clarification: if I agree with you I’m following scientific procedure, and if I disagree with you I’m not?

That’s baloney! Have you read a single entry at www.icecap.us ?

I’m the scientist. You’ve ignored so many posts by those that disagree with you I think you’re our Christian “hamba”

You’ve skirted the opposing scientific viewpoints so blatantly I can only consider you’re knowledge uninformed and irrelevant.

Breast feeding and cloth diapers, and working only 1/4 time.

Ooooooohhhh, the fallacious argument from authority: " I’M THE SCIENTIST!!! TRUST ME!!! You are nothing but an ignorant hamba."

That’s a bit disingenuous, since you obviously haven’t read the link, and are responding with your own googled links.

False – I have read the link. I have also seen firsthand the shrinking of Glaciers in Switzerland, Mexico, and Oregon. I don’t find AGW denial convincing.

How would you know that a glacier is shrinking? Can you tell just by looking at it?

Yes, you are missing the difference between a deductive argument and an inductive argument.
