I have a number of lovely nightgowns that I wish someone would make, with a different fabric, into a nice summery dress. Something like this is so cute, it’s just that the fabric makes you think nighty. Of course below the knee is better. What a nice idea for someone to make some extra money! The patterns must be available. Mixing a print and a solid with some lace would be lovely. And cool!

It looks really nice- with a longer hemline it will have something remembering me of a regency gown 😉 I love tailoring and I am always glad to find new ideas ,so thank you very much 🙂

Glad you like the idea!
I did say longer, and especially nice for the taller girls, giving them the option of long enough when sewing your own. 😃

Something like this perhaps? simplicity.com/p-2088-costumes.aspx

The big name pattern companies all have some costume patterns of vintage outfits for historical re-enactors and theatre etc. that could be easily tweaked. And basically even a nightgown pattern could be made not to look like nightwear. It’s all in the choice of fabric, trim, and detailing. The pattern pieces are really just for getting the basic shape and fit of the garment. 🙂

Very sweet ! I agree lots of nighties would make goblet girlie dresses in the right fabric.
