Yeah, regarding the smiling, it’s hard to find a balance. When I was trying to make the second one smile, somehow it made the whole thing look very cartoonish. Weird how a simple smile can change the entire context.

I agree I don’t want them to look mean. The ones who don’t have beards are hard to do lol

@Maximilian75 I hope the detail will be fine, insofar as there aren’t any printing issues. Maybe that’s what you meant. But yeah, I may have to strip away some lines or so.

I had a picture in my mind when I read this title. In the front was a picture of Pope Francis, about five inches high, connected to another smaller one of Pope Benedict with a line, then a smaller of St. John Paul II, spiraling, or going back and forth to the bottom, crossing to the back of the shirt, then going back and forth to the top with a picture at the top of the back about five inches high of St. Peter.

Great idea for a shirt! At first, I thought it would be way too much to fit on a shirt, but looking at your mock-up, that’s definitely doable.

If you’re looking to see what the popes look like, just go to the Vatican website. At the bottom of the main page, they have the “Supreme Pontiffs” that you can scroll through sideways to see a headshot of every pope.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

THIS mock-up was made with the same two portraits above, with just variations of color. So I could get the point across…

I don’t like this font, and I’m still figuring out text. But this is just to show the idea

Back of shirt.

It’s kinda quirky. I think it only works if it’s the back of the shirt. Maybe?

Idea… on front put a picture of Pope Francis with #265

then, do the back with just the faces (and I love the connecting line that was mentioned) and the scripture passage.

If you don’t say “successors to St Peter”, then, people will ask you what it is about. That turns it from a funky shirt to an evangelization tool.

Haha! When I’m done, I may just upload the design and then anyone who wants a shirt can put it on an online t-shirt maker.

I’m not sure what I’ll do with it. I just know I want one for myself.

I am not wild about the lettering styles of the part above the popes. It’s a bit “heavy.” And I think all black is easier to read. Maybe all the same size or it is too busy and competes with the popes.

I don’t like the font. I just wanted to express the basic idea. I don’t want only pictures of Popes.

Unless I do the idea of have Pope Francis on front with “266” like someone else said. Then it may be self-explanatory.

I’m trying to decide whether I like irishmom’s or thelittlelady’s suggestion better. 🤔 I like the idea of having text on the front and pictures on the back (or maybe vice versa). If you do have text with the pictures, I’d probably opt for just having it above or below the pictures (but not both) and then moving the other text to the other side of the shirt.

But also: I kinda wanted to name the Popes too. Is that too much? I think it’s important

You should track down a company that supplies art shirts to Catholic companies…offer it to them in exchange for a few free shirts if you don’t want payment.

That would be too much. The point is how many, and that they are the successors. To add type would lose the graphic look you were after. Less is more, as the saying goes.

You could try it and see how it looks. Honestly, I would like to see the names, too, but I think I’d have to see it in order to decide if it would look too “busy”.

I know I’ve always liked the posters with a headshot and name of all the popes.

I guess it’s finding the right balance between the aesthetic appeal and the evangelistic/apologetic appeal haha
