I’m currently planning to make a rosary from scratch as a gift for my dad. I’m wondering what options I have for the centerpiece? I know that it is commonly the virgin Mary. I’m making both the centerpiece and crucifix (not ordering them offline). I probably can figure out a way to make a Mary centerpiece but it would be difficult. I don’t know if there any rules as to what the centerpiece should be or if I have freedom there. Something simpler would definitely be easier to make.

Thanks for any help!

I’ve seen a number of different centerpieces. The one on my own rosary is a miraculous medal.

I also have one with a Miraculous Medal, and one with Our Lady of Fatima on the front and “Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us” on the back. You could have a St. Benedict’s medal or whatever medal you like, or create your own front/back designs. Maybe whatever you think would mean the most to your father. Maybe cleverly ask, “I’ve always loved St. N. Who’s your favorite saint, Dad?”

Sometimes the centerpiece is simply a knot or a bead…if you feel like it fits don’t worry about having to have a centerpiece.
