I live on a college campus where there is a substantial number of homosexuals. When I go to the gym, I go into the men’s bathroom where I need to lift up my shirt to put a heart rate monitor on my chest, an act that I feel wouldn’t be appropriate in front of the opposite sex. Should we also try to avoid this kind of behavior (ex: go in a bathroom stall to put my heart rate monitor on) to avoid the possibility of provided a temptation to a homosexual male that walks in? Or do I have a right to do those sort of things in the mens room?

In my opinion just do your thing in the men’s locker room and that includes showering. Do you worry about being shirtless at the beach?

What about in terms of just a regular bathroom, not a locker room, where one would not expect to see anyone shirtless.

Really, you feel it’s inappropriate to lift your shirt in front of a woman, if only to affix a medical device? Believe me, she’s not going to get aroused by a quick glance at your chest anymore than a gay man would. If they do get excited then it’s their problem, not yours.

do whatever it is men normally do in the men’s room or locker room. I don’t think sexual acts come under the heading of normal. There are laws against sexual harrasment so if you are propositioned report it to the administration of the college.

If some girl or guy is going to have a near occasion of sin over you lifting up your shirt to put on a heart monitor then please picture over on the Why are you still single? thread. Some of the ladies over there may appreciate it. I for one would not worry about it. Being in the Army 12 years I know for a fact I have showered with a lesbian or two and I have never caught them looking - by the time we got to shower I wasn’t thinking about anything but getting to sleep. So please for the sake of everyone around you - use your heart monitor and shower.
