Making Rosaries

Does anyone know of a good place to get supplies for making rosaries?
 
I make rosaries every year with the 2nd grade at my daughter’s school. I live in a city and get all my supplies for them at religious supply stores ( crucifixes and medals) and I get the beads at craft stores.
One thing that is fun to do if you are working with kids–or not–is to make the decade beads out of femo clay.
If you are interested, can give instructions.

I buy pretty beads at craft shops, with shafts large enough to double the wire down inside them. I also make “bows” in the spaces rather than chain links because they are stronger and less likely to break.
 
My Grandma, who is born and raised in Barcelona, does this for our parish. She makes so many of them in all sorts of colors. They are made with plastic beads. She sometimes makes them with metal pieces too. I have a bunch of rosaries. I give them to my friends too. I don’t know where she gets her supplies though.
 
I don’t make the bead&wire kind as much these days, but when I did I got most of my supplies from the local Hobby Lobby store or from www.rosaryshop.com

Now I mostly make the knotted twine variety, with #36 twisted twine from FNT . This is the kind that Rosary Army distributes for free.
 
You may want to ask fellow CAF member, Zooey, because I know she makes them, too.

🙂 Our Lady’s Rosary Makers
I like the fact that they are a nonprofit apostolate, who use the money from their sales of “gift” rosary parts, to support the very low prices that they charge for mission rosary parts that are sold at or below cost to those who give the rosaries to missions.

This is the kind that I make. If you join the RA forums, you will be able to find some great folks who make beautiful hand-dyed twine, in colors that cannot be duplicated by any other method, as well as connect with other rosary makers…RA will send a free rosary if you follow the instructions on their site… :D:wink: Be warned!!😉😃 I started out with one of their free rosaries, and began trying to make the knots on the scrap twine that comes with every rosary, and here I am: knotting away!! Making rosaries is:thumbsup: truly addictive!!👍

Marie Genevieve (#7) posted the link to rosary army. I really like my twine rosary. The priest who acted as spiritual advisor when I made Cursillo made one for each of us, with the knotted cross.

My grandson wants a crucifix made out of stone. I thought it might be nice to make a twine rosary for him. Does anybody know where I can find a crucifix like he requested to add to the twine rosary?
 
I’m addicted to making twine rosaries…as you can tell in my siggy! 🤷
 
I make and give away Chaplets for Priests using pony beads and I get mine from Boleck’s, they are very inexpensive and I use cord from wal-mart, you didn’t specify what kind of beads you were interested in, so I just thought I would give you my ideas. I make mini one-decade wire rosaries. I buy my wire at the local hardware store. When it comes to my beads and crosses I buy those at Wal-mart. The metal crosses they have are cheap and come in a set of 4 for 96 cents!

I can’t afford to spend alot of money when making my rosaries and so this is how I save money when buying rosary parts. I both sell and give away these tiny rosaries that fit right into the palm of your hand.

Hello, everybody!

I started this thread about a year and a half ago when I was making my bridal rosary and looking for someplace to get a nice sterling silver crucifix. Oddly enough, the bead shop I lived near at the time had plenty of centers, but no decent crucifixes.

I ended up going to rosaryparts.com, and found a beautiful one, which I had engraved w/ our names and our wedding date—no excuses for anyone to forget the wedding anniversary!

Since then, I have retained my interest in making rosaries, so I’m glad someone dug my little thread up out of the archives and revived it!
