Martin is one of the more intresting figures of the Church. He should be a saint. What do you think of his views on the Antichrist or how the antichrist will show it self? I find this topic intresting because it isn’t talked about a lot.

Actually Christians fixate on his identity. It usually isn’t Catholic theologians or priests who do so. It’s the realm of the fundamentalists. What is certain is that since Paul, who believed that he was engaging in “end days” preparation, each succeeding generation of believers thought that they were living in the time of the Antichrist.

Featuring Obama in this U-Tube video is really going to endear him to RC, isn’t it? We don’t already have enough problems with this guy. He’s starting the process of rolling back about twenty years of developing protections for the unborn, including the ban on partial-birth abortions. Does this make him the Antichrist? Or is it Bono from U-2 as some insist? It’s not our place to decide. When it’s time we’re supposed to be guided by our leaders, who will be inspired by the Holy Spirit. In the meantime, prepare for the possibility of living in the time of the Desolate One’s rise. But our mortal deaths might occur first, as has happened to every previous generation.

past threads on the topic of this former priest
the only thing they agree on is that describe him as “speaking for the Catholic Church” is not accurate, or even to describe him as speaking “in the Church” may be a stretch

I don’t know why we can say the topic of the antichrist is not discussed to often, since their are 5 threads on the topic in 2009 alone, here is list of past threads on that as well

I don’t know but for me my three signs of the Anti-Christ.
1.Bad hair- a comb over is a sure sign of the evil one!
2.Bad teeth-poor dental hygiene -and it smells like the mouth of Hell!
3.Bad body funk(I have encountered many spawns of the devil in the NYC subway.)and it’s just gross!.I think that is just as insightful as Malachi Martin’s tripe.!😃

Sorry, and not to speak ill of the dead, but LOL! 😛

Upon what grounds can you say this? Because Martin (may he rest in peace) wrote popular books and was a popular speaker with a certain subset of Cafeteria Catholics?

That’s hardly grounds for canonization. 🙂

I’ve researched this a lot and here are my conclusions (I don’t agree with him 100%):
  • The AntiChrist is a spirit, the spirit of Satan, and has been in the world for a long time, and is still in the world. Satan seeks to confuse and deceive as many people as possible to prepare the world for the 'Son of Perdition", the AntiChrist.
  • There were many Antichrists that have come, but there is one main that is supposed to come and that will be the final one (the primary). He will be a great leader, and have much power, but will also be able to show signs and wonders (like Christ).
  • It is certain that early Church Fathers knew that the Roman Empire would collapse and sometime after that the AntiChrist would come into the world, though none ever seemed to say when they thought it would happen.
  • The real AntiChrist will fool many, including Christians (even some of the elect-- which are the leaders in the Church). He will NOT be a pope and he will not control the Church (though the spirit of the AntiChrist has tried to destroy the church from within, God has not and will not allow this to happen – see Zephaniah 3:13).
  • Satan will set himself up to be a god. Because of the AntiChrists signs and wonders many will believe that he is a Messiah and they will believe in the false god, Satan.
  • The AntiChrist will NOT be Satan incarnate, but will be a man (a mortal who can die).

These next conclusions are my own based on what I have learned. They are just speculation, but the above is what I gathered from both scripture and from early church writings concerning the AntiChrist.

He will show up after the Abomination of Desolation (AOD) is established (which I believe has already been setup years ago). I don’t think the AOD in Daniel is the same as the AOD that Jesus prophesied (Daniel’s AOD had already come to pass before the 2nd temple was built). The 2nd temple was destroyed by Rome in 70 A.D, and the Dome of the Rock was built on the temple mount and carries an inscription of blasphemy which denies that Jesus was the Son of God.

I think that he will show up at the temple, and will be of middle eastern descent. He will display many signs and wonders when he does. Many of the Jews will think he is their long awaited Messiah. Many Christians will think he is either Jesus returned or a great prophet of God, especially when he speaks out against the Church and convinces them that the Church is the enemy (which Satan has already been preparing the world for). The unbelievers will be amazed by his power, and many will convert and worship the false god (who makes people believe he is God, but he is not, he is Satan, because Satan desires to be God).

Interesting enough, I learned that there is a prophesy in Islam of a “Mahdi”, who is a redeemer that will rid the world of error, injustice and tyranny. They will believe that the AntiChrist is this person that they are waiting for.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Church will speak out against the AntiChrist. At that time he will gather a multitude from every nation and surround Vatican City (the holy city which is the camp of the Saints), seeking to destroy it. But God will destroy them with fire from heaven, and all those that followed him. Those who remain faithful in that terrible time will be saved when all seems lost.

That’s just my take on it. I’d be interested in hearing what others think!

Although I fall into the category of one who believes that we are living in the end of an era times…not the end of the world, I recognize much wisdom in your words above.
You seem to say, study it and speculate if you wish…but don’t lose sight of the truth in your studies and speculations.
Many need to hear that.
Thank you. I wish I had come across your words last year when I was really getting anxious at times.

Thanks for posting.
