Man Arrested After Trying to Shoot Pro-Life People at Abortion Center

Albuquerque, NM – A man was arrested on Saturday outside a late-term abortion facility in New Mexico after he threatened to shoot two pro-life women providing alternatives to women going to the Southwestern Women’s Options abortion center. The abortion center is operated by late-term abortion practitioner Curt Boyd.

Looks like it was the same clinic that was burned and destroyed a couple years ago.

I see they changed the name from “Abortion Acceptance of Albuquerque”.

Interesting that in the arson case, the young man was provoked by the thought of his girlfriend getting an abortion. In the recent case, it was a man provoked by the thought of a girl not getting an abortion.

Regardless of his intentions, this title is horribly misleading, for one he only threatened, and tellign someon you will shoot them is not “trying to shoot” and secondly, from what I could see, the article didn’t say if or if not the cops had found a gun on him.

Need to be careful with these titles, Juliee, someone could accuse you telling porkies, or at the very least, being liberal with the truth.

juliee accurately copied the title of the article which is the rule for the “news” forums, and while this is the social justice forum it is still an accurate descriptive title of the article, if not the actual events.

As Jilly4ski mentioned, Julee simply used the headline of the article. However, your main point is valid: the headline is an exaggeration which suggests that shots were fired.

LifeNews, I think, generally refrains from exaggerated, misleading headlines. Its a tactic which LifeSite uses much more often. I hope LifeNews hasn’t decided to imitate their competitor.

Here is how the mainstream media is reporting it:

KRQE-TV
Cops called for abortion clinic threat
A man, his wife and their 16 year old daughter pulled into the clinic for the teen’s appointment Saturday.
Protesters claim the girl was interested in hearing about alternatives to abortion.
Bud Shaver with Operation Rescue was there and told News 13 what he saw, “(The girl) took the information that she was offering but the gentlemen lashed out.”
The female protester said the girl’s father yelled he didn’t believe in god and flipped her off.
The family went inside, but the man came back out.
The protester claims that’s when the father told her not to speak to his daughter again or he would quote “Put a bullet in her heart".
“He kind of lifted up his shirt and showed something that was attached to his belt,” Shaver said.

Albuquerque Journal
Police Confiscate Man’s Rifle and Pistol
The incident started Saturday around 9:30 a.m., when the man was walking into the Southwestern Women’s Options on 522 Lomas NE with his wife and teenage daughter.
Code:
As the family walked in, a woman protesting the clinic asked whether she could pray for them and the baby. The man responded that he did not believe in God. He told police he felt verbally assaulted because the protesters yelled at them and told his family they were going to hell if they got an abortion, according to the report.
Code:
The family then walked into the building.
Code:
A few minutes later, the man walked out to his car. The protester again approached him, telling him, "Jesus loves him," according to the complaint.
Code:
The man then allegedly told the protester if she said anything to his daughter, who was getting an abortion, he would "put a bullet" in her heart, according to the report. The man placed his hand on his right hip as if reaching for a gun but didn't actually have a weapon, witnesses said.
