Man is Good Quote - Help!

This came up in a discussion relating to how the body is evil as it is corrupt just as the soul is good because it is eternal, based upon Platonic Duality.

I am looking for a quote from an early source (I believe I had wrongly attributed it to Origen) that I can only paraphrase: Man is good because God is all good, and God can only create good things.

Is anyone familiar with that quote or its source?

What about Genesis.

God calls all of his creations “Good” including Man. Sin is the only thing that is evil, because it is the only thing that goes against God’s will, and sin is only possible by those with free will in an act against God’s will.

Look up the Gnostic Heresy from the early Church times… It was one of the first condemnations.

My first thought is the Confessions of St. Augustine. I recall he has a bit in there about everything that exists being good, and that evil is a lack of existence. I think he mentions the example of a piece of metal rusting … but anyway, Genesis does say that God saw that all his creations were good, although that will not convince someone who thinks the Fall made man completely depraved (and thus ‘not good’). Such a person may even point to God declaring that He “was sorry he had made them” etc. leading up to the Flood.

So I’d check out St. Augustine’s Confessions. It’s a good read, in any case.
