Is it wrong for us to make our own devotions? I’m having trouble finding any good devotions to St. George, other than stand alone prayers. I want something that I can say every day (I.E. a series of prayers). Would it be wrong to either combine already written prayers or write my own for this kind of use, or do we need to stick to the divine devotions, like the Rosary?

By all means create your own devotions, just as long as the very center of all devotion is Christ and Christ Alone, well the Father and the Holy Spirit count too. 👍

Alright, that’s great. And I understand that they should be centered on Christ, like the Rosary, while it is a ‘Marian devotion’ it is still Christ centered, like any good Catholic devotion should be.

Every devotion is summed up as “Blessed be God in all His angels and in all His saints.”

This is good advice. But to be clear, all devotions, whether they explicitly include Christ or not, should lead us to true union with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All authentic devotions, whether based on something developed during the long history of the Church or one which you have developed because it has special meaning to you, must lead us to God.

I wrote it up as a document… does this seem like a sound enough devotion?

The Chaplet of St. George consists of 15 beads, or 15 prayers. The first 4 are to Christ, for the four points of the cross.
Next we say the Glory Be, followed by Hail Mary. The seventh through thirteenth prayers ask St. George for his prayers and
intercession in our lives. Prayers seven through ten are the standard St. George prayer:

O God, who didst grant Saint George the strength and constancy in the various torments which he sustained for our holy
faith; we beseech Thee to preserve, through his intercession, our faith from wavering and doubt so that we may serve You
with a sincere heart unto death. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers ten through thirteen are as follows:

O Lord, Saint George was dragged bt horses through the streets of his home, Lydda, where his tomb lies unto this day.
We beseech thee that through his intercession we might gain a faith as strong as his, and be defended from all wavering and
doubt. Let us be devoted and not fear any pain or persecution. Amen.

Fourteen is as follows:

O Lord, let our Church be uninted as You wish it to be. Let the things that seperate us be removed, let out own desires be
taken from our heart so that we may please thee, and let us join together as One Holy, Apostolic, Catholic Church. Amen.

We end, on bead fifteen, or if you are not using a Rosary, prayer fifteen. This prayer is the Jesus Prayer, which is much
more common in Eastern traditions than Western ones.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, the sinner.

Once you are done, make the Sign of the Cross.
Pray earnestly, that is all that matters. Do so with child like faith.
