Can you imagine being a parishioner in the pews, watching this happen? This news is a few days old. Incredible nonetheless. Not to mention that it’s stories like these that reinforce the belief held by secularists that religion is dangerous. All it takes is one Christian person to act wrongly or supremely foolish, and Christianity as a whole gets smeared.

The article quotes Scripture:
In the Bible, Jesus says: “If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”
Great, just great.

In my experience, critics of Christianity, namely atheists will ask something to the effect of: “why don’t you gouge your eyes out?” (Of course, they don’t actually intend for us to do this, rather, their point is, why do we not take the text literally).

One atheist I’ve interacted with in the past did acknowledge that:
"… atheists tend to regard Biblical literalism as more pernicious than a liberal approach, so we have less impetus to address those interpretations which reduce the Bible to metaphor, and 3) there is something about seeing Christians getting hopping mad when we persist in reading the Bible according to the actual words it contains that is, well, amusing. "
(emphasis mine)

Wow. That is horrendous.

I feel a little faint now…but will be okay.

pretty disheartening to read the comments underneath that video. Just an argument how God can’t exist because of evolution and all the big science talk of quantum computers making brain maps someday and just on and on with useless dredge. Yet not one comment of concern over this man, whether it be a prayer from someone of faith or just a “hope he gets some help” from those without. Atheists instantly use something like this as a platform to spew their hate to anyone who will listen. I’m adding this man in my prayers tonight, as well as everyone who posted on that article. Makes you wonder whats worse. The fact then man felt voices in his head told him to rip his eyes out during Mass, or the fact that there was not one ounce of compassion in those comments (I haven’t read them all naturally but from what I skimmed through it was apalling). It seems humanity and compassion are obsolete in the technical age nowadays.

Greetings to those posting and or reading this thread,

This is horrendous. And this is why we need the Magisterium of the Church to tell us what the “authentic” interpretation of Sacred Scripture is. Wow, I am appalled.

God Bless.

When Aldo Bianchini hears voices telling him to gouge his own eyes out, the atheists ridicule him for being an authentic model of what Christianity is all about

I guess being an atheist means you are utterly incapable of making distinctions.
