Man With Pro-Life, Anti-Obama Sign Considered Threat

Enid, OK – An Oklahoma man with a homemade sign on his vehicle was pulled over and harassed by police for allegedly making a threat against the president. Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police officer followed him for several miles and eventually signaled him to pull over.

The officer mistook the sign, which read Abort Obama, not the unborn," as threatening.

Abort Obama? That is a little over the line. We are supposed to be working on eliminating abortion not redirecting it toward people we disagree with. His policies are wacked and I poke fun at the guy from time to time, but this is over the top.

I think you misunderstand the sign, too.

We use abort in ways other than a medical procedure.

Remember all those shows on TV with the people saying “Abort! Abort!”, meaning end the attempt?

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could say “Abort! Abort!” and end the liberal, pro-abortion Obama presidency?

FWIW, I"ve seen bumper stickers naming politicians and mentioning abortion, and they weren’t talking about ending their terms in office. Actually, they mention certain politicians’ mothers and abortion.

I took this as a very positive story. After all, state troopers and the secret service had no problem equating “abortion” with “murder”. If only the rest of the country would catch on…

honestly… people use the term abort specifically for this reason: to cover the fact that the act is not abortion, but murder of a child. If only we COULD use the police officer’s definition of what abort can be defined as, then maybe people would catch on a bit to the fact that it’s murder… or they’d switch to another word that meant “to remove”

I’m not an Obama supporter, but at least make a sign that says abort Obama’s Presidency, or abort Obama’s policies. Just saying “abort Obama” seems a bit odd. How did the guy expect people to take it?

Again, I don’t like Obama’s policies and I didn’t support those that were against Bush, but at least the signs that said “impeach Bush” didn’t have a possible double meaning.

I’ve seen much worse than 'abort Bush". Still no one was investigated.

I think they think that conservatives (which, in their minds, is all registered Republicans with the exception of a certain politician from New England) are racist, gun-toting lunatics.

Anyone who doesn’t understand the meaning of abort should educated himself.

Generally, it seems to me the left are more likely to feel threatened than the right. It’s my general impression, also, that the left are more inclined to restrict the freedom of speech than the right are.
