So actually, vaccination rates have been on a steady uptick nationally since the 1960s.
https://www.healthchoicevt.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/coverage-levels.pdfThe Vaccines for Children program gave the the rates a serious boost. Only a teensy weensy minority of NY parents file for exemptions.
Vaccination Coverage for Selected Vaccines and Exemption Rates Among Children in Kindergarten — United States, 2017–18 School Year | MMWR You could reply that measles outbreaks happen in a “pockets” but there have always been pockets. And you’d think they’d have been more prevalent with lower national rates. We need to ask ourselves why these outbreaks are occurring at such high immunization rates. It’s a lot more complex than just “ebil anti-vaxxers.”
The Re-Emergence of Measles in Developed Countries: Time to Develop the Next-Generation Measles Vaccines?
Your assertion is that refugees are vaccinated before they come to the US?
that is laughable!
It’s actually true. It’s a requirement to have a whole slew of vaccines in order to live in the U.S. under refugee status. I have personally transported refugees to the health clinic to get their vaccines.
. Even if they were, it would be no worse than the organs or tissues of a murder victim being used to save others — a good thing, without making the murder itself a good thing.
Actually, I’d give pause if my loved one were murdered and somebody turned their cells into an indemnified, for-profit, mandatory pharmaceutical product. There’s something eerily utilitarian about that idea.
I have a great idea. Encourage and fund some vaccines that are not morally questionable…
Catholics are trying. I believe a petition was even circulating recently online. But what business incentive does Merck have to comply? Their products are already mandated and indemnified. Why go through the extra expense of developing a more expensive version of them? I’d love to see more ethically sourced vaccines! And I do sympathize with your position - too much fanaticism comes out of this debate from both sides.
That is for the schools to decide. We don’t vaccinate, but we also homeschool. It’s the best of both worlds.
We vaccinate
and homeschool! Don’t get complacent, though. A non-school measles outbreak came to Disneyland. So California banned non-medical exemptions for school attendance. Then measles showed up again. So now a doc-turned-politician is blaming a minuscule number of medical exemptions. Mark my words - when a third outbreak hits, they’re coming after the homeschoolers, and I have no doubt that other states will try, too.
Hepatitis is transmitted by contaminated bodily fluids…considering how knowledgeable children are about cleanliness, it’s possible that they could be exposed.
It’s transmitted like HIV/AIDS - primarily through sexual intercourse and drug needles.
Should we give kids without Hep B vaccination the Ryan White treatment? Especially considering that Hep B+ kids
cannot be barred from school?
