I have heard the claim if we loose all the biblical manuscripts in the world tha the Bible can be recovered using the church fathers. So, I am wondering what is the manuscript evidence behind the church fathers? For example, I read that the didache has only greek manuscript around 1050, and few late translations in fragments. Is this true? Is there a list of church fathers and their manuscripts with dates of such?

I haven’t heard this particular sentiment before, but the Fathers did quote scripture copiously in their writings either directly or by sentiment.

In theory, that is true. However, to do so pretty much requires a computer to sort out the quotes, and then line them up sequentially.

I haven’t attempted to do such a reconstruction. I suspect that most of the NT could be reconstructed. There would be major gaps in the Tanakh. (Going just by what is published in 30 volume The Early Church Fathers, several NT books are completely absent.)

I hope you find some material on this. I wonder if the editors of the Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripturecould help you? This is a 26-volume compilation of ECF commentaries on Scripture verse-by-verse. They did not use MANUSCRIPT resources (which is what you are asking about), but they would likely have a better connection with that information than we have here.

I am subscribing to the set and have received about half of the set. From the looks of it, the romantic idea that you could reconstruct Scripture from the Fathers isn’t much of a stretch.

IVP isn’t not including Deuterocanonical books, unfortunately.
