Many Protestants say: “Divorce and remarriage is just fine and dandy!”

Jesus said: “Whoever divorces and marries another commits adultery.”

Many Protestants say: “Gay marriage is perfectly acceptable.”

Jesus said: “So a man shall leave his mother and father and join with his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Many Protestants say: “I don’t like abortion, but it’s a woman’s choice.”

God said: “Thou shalt not kill.”
Jesus said: “Keep the commandments” and “Suffer the little children to come unto me, for to these belong the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Many Protestants say: “Scripture is the sole rule of faith, and everyone can interpret Scripture for themselves.”

Some Protestant churches actually do have alot in common with the Catholic Church on morality issues such as abortion, contraceptives, same-sex marriage…

Mathew 19:3-9 discusses divorce only on grounds of adultery.

secondly, where are the MANY Protestants accepting gay marriage? and who is saying that abortion is a choice? Certainly not me. And, the truth is the truth, unchangeable by you or I or anyone. Call it self interpretation, whatever. Scriptures are Scriptures, truth is truth.

Anglican Church accepts gay marriages. The Anglican Church is a Protestant Church. Lutherans also ordain homosexuals and marry them.

Adultery is adultery and it is not permitted. Jesus said, “through the hardness of your heart Moses allow you to divorce.” Matt 19:3-9 infers to invalid marriages, such as marriage between two relatives, which the Mosaic Law forbids…

Hmm, news to me. I didn’t know that the Southern Cone Diocese of the Anglican Communion condones same sex marriage. They won’t even entertain ordaining women. Foot out of mouth, facts straight and then open mouth and proceed.🙂

They do. It is shame that some Protestant churches have been tempted and fall in the trap of secularism.

They do??? You are so wrong Manny. Where did you get your faulty information? You can’t tell us can you?

and secularism?? What do you call 107 Catholic clergy members convicted of sex abuse against children? OMG, the hypocracy.

Are either of these conversations in the two threads profitable in any way shape or form? LOL

They do not make up the majority. The Apostles were no different. One denied Jesus three times, another betrayed Jesus, and many departed from Jesus when he was being condemned to death, only Mary, the women disciples and John remain faithful. Turning their back on God is far worst than what those sex offenders did.

However, sex abuse is a crime and those who have done it should go to jail. But you cannot blame the entire Church for this. It would similiar to someone calling a Soldier Baby Killer.

Fr. Corapi who is a Former Special Forces was spit three times in his lifeline. One was when was young because he had a African-American Friend, who he hang out with in the 1960s. He got spit at for being a friend to a black person. The second time, was during the Vietnam War, when he was in uniform, he was spit at again for being a Soldier and a Baby Killer. The third time was during the sex scandal.

Many in the Church believe what had happen was bound to happen because in the 1960s and 1970s liberal vocation director allowed homosexual men into the seminary and permit them to teach doctrine contrary to what the Church teaches. Those who had “orthodox” Catholic belief were kick out.

The result, unfaithful Catholic priest did not received the grace to help them combat temptation of sin and thus they commit horrible acts of sexuality.

Why did God permit this? Well, Fr. Corapi said. “God allows evil so good can came out of it.”

Since the so-called Sex Scandals, there has been many reforms made. Homosexual men are banned to enter seminary life, and those who are are kick out. The new seminarians who enter the seminary now are obedient Catholics loyal to the Magisterium. They have been nicknamed, “John Paul II’s priest.”

Those who commit the crime make out the minority, not the majority.

You need to understand that the Church members are not impeccible (immune to commit sin). The Church teachings concern faith and morals remain consistent and does not change. The Church itself has a divine part which is Holy in itself. The Soul of the Church is the Holy Spirit. The head of the Church is Jesus Christ.

The imperfect part of the Church is human. Humans can be tempted and fall into sin. Without the grace of God, mankind will fall.

That’s what you have to say for them?? OMG.
You failed to read what I wrote above. I said anyone who commits sex abuse needs to go to jail. I am just saying that abandoning God is a far worst sin than committing any sexual sin.

What does that have to do with this?
Currently there are over 400,000 world wide, so whats the odds?
Not even 1% right?

SIA - hence why I said MANY Protestants and not ALL Protestants. I’m fully aware that not all Protestants approve of abortion, gay marriage, etc.

Also, there’s a proverb about glass houses. Check out www.reformation.com and www.stopbaptistpredators.org before you throw any more stones.

Oh, and this article shows that Jesus did NOT say that divorce was acceptable in the case of adultery:

catholic.com/thisrock/2000/0007bt.asp
The article is interesting, but with the Corban of annullment, I’d tread more carefully.

As to the other sordid issue, I’ll just say 1) Latin priests are not the biggest source of such things (the denomination with the biggest problem in this area is Protestant) 2) clergy are not as high as some professions, like teachers (I am a teacher, btw).

Sooo, you’re going to tell us no Anglican diocese condones same sex marriage (heard of New Hampshire?) ECUSA?

NO diocese of the Vatican (or the Orthodox for that matter) condones same sex marriage and wormen ordination.

Foot…

Well, I would assume he reads it in the newspaper like all the rest of us.

Sorry dude, that argument holds no water. The bad priests were evil individuals who committed crimes against God and man, astronomically against Church teachings. I don’t know anything about your church of Uganda, but the Anglican/Episcopal communion in THIS country does permit the ordination of women and active homosexuals to its priesthood and bishopric and further blesses gay unions; it is dogmatic. That was the point.

Homosexual men are banned to enter seminary life, and those who are are kick out. .
Why? Is the implication that most of the abuse was/is committed by homosexuals. I understand that not to be the case, that most child abuse is committed by hetrosexual men and women.
