Think of the Church as a Compass. Even if you know that you are going to go east or west, it would not be fair if that Compass was not True North if you decided to come back. There is plenty of other orgs that want to use condoms, and some have had good results with using both abstinance and strict condom use, others fail horribly in attempting to use condoms alone. But there still needs to be a True Compass for all to use if they want to go in the correct path.

Hmm… I think a man who has been celibate his entire life would have a pretty good idea about a person’s ability to abstain from sex.

Also, if we look at Uganda, which does not distribute condoms but rather encourages monogamy and abstenance, we will see the ONLY country in Africa with a declining AIDS rate. If one looks at the Philipines, we see a country which does not distribute condoms and also has one of the lowest HIV infection rates in the entire world.

Condoms lead to the spread of AIDS because people think they are 100% effective and therefore engage in risky behavior that they would not otherwise do.

The world is perfectly capable, without the pope’s help, of influencing and educating people about all the different ways to sin .
