Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Although we are almost at the end of our preliminary period of 12 days, “seeking to empty ourselves of the spirit of the world”, it is obvious this cannot be done in just 12 days for most of us – without a special miracle of Grace! Nevertheless, it is very important to take the words of Scripture seriously about the “spirit of the world”. We read in the First Letter of John:
St. Louis de Montfort does well to begin our preparation with these 12 days and we do well prayerfully to cooperate with God’s Grace in calling us to set out on this journey. Please let us continue to pray to the Holy Spirit for His Light to hear and to do the Truth we hear as Mary pondered in her Immaculate Heart all she heard from God and gave Him her whole mind, and heart and soul and strength – loving Him above all and others for His sake. Please let us pray for one another and for the Church and for all those in most need of God’s Mercy.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful; kindle in us the fire of your love.
Mary, Mother and Model of the Church, pray for us.
St. Joseph, whose moth we begin today, pray for us.

In His Holy Word, God is not telling us not to love what He created. He created the world and it was good, but sin has brought with it, the terrible corruption we now can see and experience. Thanks be to God He so loved the world He sent Jesus to save us, yet the consequences of the Original sin remain for us to battle in the world, and in our own hearts.
