Dear Brother’s and Sisters,
… And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself.

Jesus' words in today's Gospel spur us on to seek earnestly a true knowledge of self and sorrow for our sins during this first week. If we seek to "save" ourselves, rather than to deny ourselves, i.e. to hold on to anything as our treasure rather than Jesus, we will lose all. If we do not love God with our whole heart, then we will not detach ourselves from anything. However, if for His sake we lose ourselves, cease to put ourselves first, then we save the life He has given us for eternity.

The prayers which St. Louis De Montfort asks us to pray are helpful to us:
Litany of the Holy Spirit can be found [HERE](https://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/pentecost/pent13.htm)
Ave Maris Stella (in English) [HERE](http://www.chantcd.com/lyrics/hail_star_sea.htm)
Litany of the Blessed Virgin may be found [HERE](http://campus.udayton.edu/mary/prayers/bvm.html)

Father all-powerful, have mercy on us. Jesus, Eternal Son of the Father, Redeemer of the world, save us. Spirit of the Father and the Son, boundless life of both, sanctify us. Holy Trinity, hear us.

Virgin all excelling,
Mildest of the mild,
Freed from guilt, preserve us,
Pure and undefiled.

Keep our life all spotless,
Make our way secure,
Till we find in Jesus,
Joy forevermore.
