The Mass readings for today’s Mass again help us in our preparation for Total Consecration. In the First Reading from Hosea we hear:
In seeking true knowledge of ourselves we need to admit that we have sinned and often the false “god” we have created is our “self” — then God heals us. Jesus Who is our Way, our Truth, and our Life, points us in the right direction in today’s Gospel:…We shall say no more, 'Our god,'
> to the work of our hands;
for in you the orphan finds compassion."
I will heal their defection, says the LORD,
> I will love them freely;
for my wrath is turned away from them…
Only the God Who created us can reveal to us our true selves, both our sins and the holiness to which He calls us. Let us continue to pray to the Holy Spirit sent to bring us into all Truth, and to our Mother that she may interceded for us.…One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”
Jesus replied, “The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these…”
