I am writing an article right now concerning, among other things, the affect the culture of death has had upon our country’s demographics-- and our future. In the course of an article revision, I came across new information which I thought I’d pass on to you.
According to the Allan Guttmacher Institute, 1.31 million abortions are taking place each year. (The peak was in 1980, and it has been slowly dropping since.) This number corresponds to one quarter of all pregnancies ending in abortion within this country. This figure is sickening.
Does anyone have any observations that they’d like to share on this topic–e.g. ways to battle this culture? It cements in my mind the accuracy of Karl Keating’s voter guide concerning those principles on which Catholics should not compromise.
By the way*, Christianity Today* (November 2004) had an interesting article on abortion, but it wasn’t very deep in its conclusions.
