Hello everyone! I have just read “Get us Out of Here” - the book with the extensive interview of Maria Simma. I am very very very intrigued with it and looking to discuss these revelations with others…

I have read that the book has an imprimatur, but cannot find one on my copy, and then I’ve read somewhere that it doesn’t have one…?

As long as the Church has said “nothing” (for or against these revelations)…am I ok to keep exploring this?

I don’t think Maria Simma has anything to do with Garabandal. She is the lady who prayed for the holy souls all the time and claimed God sent them to her. She did occasionally express her opinions on other Church stuff like people do on this forum.

Nevertheless, her testimony is unapproved private revelations, so we can’t really discuss it here.

The book has been sold by Catholic bookstores and I am not aware of any prohibition on reading it, but as the apparitions are not approved, take it with a grain of salt.

I myself ask Maria’s intercession regularly. She is on my list of favorite holy people and is an inspiration to me.

There’s certainly nothing wrong with her praying for the holy souls constantly.

For whatever reason - Im not sure why - I believe her (I think?)…but Im not sure how or why lol…most certainly, the book has excited me, and made me think about aspects of the faith Ive ignored in the past…I guess Ill just have to track anything the Church ends up saying (or if it stays silent) THANKS!
 
First return on Google for Maria Simma is a Garabandal link. I did not read it, as unapproved revelations are of no interest to me. I jumped to the conclusion. Thanks for the correction!
 
I enjoyed “The Amazing Secret of the Souls in Purgatory.” It had some nice food for thought.
 
She still falls squarely in the “unapproved private revelation” category.
She did help encourage me to pray a lot for the Holy Souls.
 
Hi everyone and thanks for your responses- sorry for my confusion but still learning these things! What exactly does unapproved means? Does it mean the Church has simply been silent- or actively said “we don’t think this is valid”…thanks!
 
As far as I know, it means the Church hasn’t announced anything yet. The Church can approve, condemn or wait and see and analyze. I guess the Church hasn’t given a formal, oficial opinion as of today.

I read Maria Simma and the souls in purgatory book (I am not sure what the title is in English, you know how it is with titles and translations…). The book was inspiring. As a sidenote - there is something similar, approved this time, by st. Catherine of Genoua. I recommend that too.

I read her work but put it aside when I found things that were troubling, such as Maria stating people who were in heaven (John Lennon) and people in hell (Hitler), her strong belief in Medjugorje, her belief that Pope John Paul I was murdered, and various other controversial things. Just didn’t pass the “smell” test for me.

Hmm, I don’t even remember that… maybe I read something else by her, or was it about her? Anyway, I focused on the purgatory, and btw, I read it close to my conversion, so quite some time ago, so much of that was news to me, and also I was overly fascinated by anything mystical etc. That was my first “phase” of the Catholic journey so to speak.

What about Medjugorie, though? Why is that a problem? I haven’t been there, but a lot of conversions happen to people who go there, even to a point of new vocations to consecrated life. People go to confessions after many years and so on. Abp Hoser, from my country, has written a good report on Medjugorie, as far as I remember, and I rely on him being a devout, good Catholic and a wise man, knew what he was writing. Anything wrong happened there since then?
 
Whether the apparitions at Medjugorje are authentic or not is a subject far too large for this post. You can read all about it by just googling.
 
Oh, I did once. And so, like I said, it seems to be a very spiritual place let’s say. I read the critique too, about 3-4 years ago, but I rely more on our archbishop in that case, because of his character, and his fidelity to the Church.

They’ve been silent on Maria.

Unapproved usually means “silent”. Sometimes it means “investigating”.
If disapproved, we would say the Church has condemned the private revelation, warned against it, or given a negative decision.

Almost always the Church just remains silent.

These things you state, and some of her other opinions on stuff like communion in the hand, is why the Church will probably never approve her revelations. There are however lots of saints and people on the path who have claimed to see or know people are in heaven or hell. Saints can of course be wrong on such things. It’s not that unusual though.
 
I agree. As far as I know, the Church never proclaims someone is in hell. Even Hitler.
 
I have read the book. What I have taken from it is that we should pray much for the holy souls in purgatory. Whether the rest of the info is true or not, I’m not sure.
