Does the Catholic Church approve of the Marian apparitions at Garabandal and the supernatural events that have been prophesied?

No.

Successive bishops of the diocese in which Garabandal is located have stated these private apparitions are not worthy of credence. This does not seem to have made an impression on those who promote the apparitions.

According to this offical site Garabandal has not been condemned, as some only quote part of the statement.

I recall reading a book many years ago about this (sorry, don’t remember the name of it) that was written by one of the seers. One thing that stuck in my mind is that at one point, all of the seers recanted their story, saying it did not happen. Later, they came back and said they were coerced into recanting and really did see the apparitions. This is possibly something that will keep this from ever being approved.

Personally, I think St. Pio had it right: Pray, Hope, and don’t worry!

What makes you think the site is “official” anything? Anyone can register a domain name.

It is a heretical website, disobeying the local bishop.

In the books of Garabandal it was stated that the Blessed Mother told them, at a very young age, that one day they would almost deny the apparitions and then come back strongly. Also, it is said that Padre Pio did say that they apparitions were worthy. The Church at this time has not given approval.

I am tired of arguing Garabandal. Three quick points.* The local bishop is the one designated by the Church with the AUTHORITY to rule on apparitions.Six successive bishops have the apparitions are NOT supernatural (i.e. of God). The vatican has consistently supported the Bishops.
  • St. Pio demonstrated obedience to his Bishop in his own life, when he spent time periods restricted from giving sacraments publicly. The key issue here is the saintly example of obedience.
  • This topic has been discussed to death already. Read the other threads before getting started all over again here.

and for good measure, Medjugorje

I see this thrown out all the time…

We do not have proof that St Pio said any such thing as it is always second hand, this would be hearsay and not allowed in any court trial.

While St Pio is a saint this does not grant him any chrism of infallibility. If he made such a statement he could still be wrong.

There is a magazine by that name. BTW Medjugorje (sp?) is not approved. Somehow it is treated as if approved. I hear the seers of the latter acted very unmoved by the apparitions. Still, I hear so also did the seers of La Salette–and it was approved. I hear Malachi Martin read the 3rd Secret and said part of it was in the Garabandol message because it was not getting out. I also read a transcript from Art Bell’s interview of him where Malachi said approving words of Hal Lindsey, so I don’t know. I hear Akita also had a similar message to Fatima.

Padre Pio was not infallable. For a period of time he thought La Sallette was a hoax. Later he changed his mind. Mother Angelica was certain that 2000 K would be a major event. And of course it wasn’t. Just because someone is holy or a saint, doesn’t give them the inside track on these things.

In reference to Garabandal, there is yet another sign to watch for to confirm that this will come to pass. It is the “Miracle” that Joey Lomangino of Brooklyn, N.Y. who lost his eyesight at age 17 in 1947, when he was fixing a flat tire for his dad and it blew up in his face and blinded him for life, will recover his eyesight completely when the “miracle” announced by Conchita Gonzalez, occurs… He has been blind for the past 61 years. He was at Garabandal when the “Visions” were occurring. He is now 77 years old and has a website. You can find his website if you enter joey longamino in your brouser. I think we are in the times that we can prove or disprove that this will truly occur. Ricardo Colón-Avilés from Puerto Rico. ricardocoav 11/17/08

On May 7th 2007, the Archbishop of Oviedo, Carlos Osoro Sierra, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Santander wrote a letter to Edward Kelly in the U.S. regarding the Apparitions of Garabandal
The letter explains that he is open to every consideration about Garabandal and has authorized visiting priests to celebrate Mass and hear confessions w/out the pastor’s permission. He respects the apparitions and has known of authentic conversions there.
He believes the next Bishop will advance the studies of the events more deeply to send to CDF in Rome.
He sends his blessing to all who propogate her message and to all pilgrims.

It is time to wake up!
Don’t you see our church divided and the U.S. falling apart?
The communists have infiltrated the catholic seminaries and colleges, public education,
news media and our political parties. We currently have a Marxist in the Whitehouse and a whole cadre of UN bootlicking socialists working to destroy our country.
They have dumbned us down to the point that we no longer know or care about universal truth, our constitution or the price of freedom.

Ofcourse, this was all warned of long ago, if we did not amend our lives and turn to God in prayer, if we do not live the 10 commandments then just take a look around at the culture trash in our midst.
Do you really think our children have a bright, promising future in a country that sanctions the murder of 3,000 unborn children every day?
Our culture worships sex and how often do we hear the evils of contraception and pornography preached in church? Too many pastors are worried that will cost at the collection plate instead of giving the unvarnished truth to their flocks.
Our reproduction rate of 1.6 assures that we will be overrun with Islam by 2050 unless God gives us a miracle. The Blessed Virgin has said that Islam will be converted in the end but too bad we have already set the course for a period of victorious communist
dominion. Sin has consequences, sometimes for generations.

Mankind needs a divine correction to save itself. Wouldn’t a loving Mother do the extaordinary to save her children?
Holy mystics Padre Pio, Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul the Great believed in Garabandal. My spiritual senses tell me they’re right.
Detatch yourself from the things of this world and pray, pray, pray. We must love our enemies and be prepared for martyrdom, for this is not the life for which God made us, but is a test of Faith, Hope & Love. Finish the race!
